Our Educational Philosophy

Education that is truly Christian must have, as its foundation, the sovereignty of God and the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Every area of inquiry—mathematics, science, history, music, languages and literature—has its full meaning in God.  Desert Springs acknowledge the Holy Scriptures as the divinely inspired word of God and, therefore, we uphold and teach a traditional Christian worldview.

Classical education is unique in that it seeks to faithfully restore the most proven form of education ever developed. The study of Latin in the grammar school years organizes and develops the mind.  The study of classical languages and the Greek/Roman classics is foundational to the development of wisdom. It is the point at which knowledge meets virtue. The classical paradigm has produced the greatest thinkers, leaders, and scientists in the Western world from the time of the Greeks until the late 19th century, including America’s founding fathers.

Desert Springs Christian Academy is committed to the development of a Classical Christian educational model.  Classical Christian education views students as God’s image bearers. Observing the stages of childhood development and being informed by God’s word of their psychological and spiritual nature allows for an organized methodology of instruction.  The total being of each student – spiritual, mental, physical, social and emotional – is recognized and affirmed as unique and individual.  The dynamics of grace, sin and redemption in the application of educational goals direct our educational philosophy.

At Desert Springs, knowledgeable and enthusiastic teachers provide their students with the classical tools of learning through the study of subject areas within Western Civilization’s seven traditional liberal arts.  Students are taught to discern both the virtues and vices of their western heritage while producing quality written work and contributing to “The Great Conversation.”

Desert Springs Christian Academy strives to create an academic culture where teachers and students hold high expectations for scholarship and Christian character. Our motto is: Pursue excellence for the glory of God. The desired outcome for our students is that they leave Desert Springs Christian Academy equipped with God’s Word so as to lead with grace, serve with humility, and maintain a life-long passion for learning and leadership.
